How many free bids do I get?
Every member that signs up for free will receive five free bids per free auction and all platinum members will receive up to 100 bids per auction or 10% of the numbers available at the beginning of the auction. For example, if an item has a retail value of $300, you’ll receive 30 free bids, if the item has a retail value of $74, you’ll receive 8 free bids (numbers are always rounded up).
How can I use my free bids?
At the beginning of a free auction, basic members can place one free bid and platinum members can place two bids until 20% of the auction time has passed. At that time, the remainder of your free bids can be placed.
This helps create a more competitive and balanced auction.
Why is there a 20% restricted time period on every free auction?
To make auctions with free bids more fair and competitive, we have added a restricted time period at the beginning of the auction where basic members can place one free bid and platinum members can place two free bids. After the restricted time period is up, all users can use the remainder of their free bids per auction.
The restricted time period is always the first 20% of the auction time. For example, if the auction is ten days long, during the first two days users can place one or two bids based on their membership and after the first two days users can use the remainder of their free bids.
When I win a free auction, does that mean I don’t have to pay anything for the item?
No, this means there is no bidding fee, bidding is free. However, you’ll have to pay whatever your winning bid was, plus the shipping for the item. For example, if your winning bid was $1.22 on a $500 item, you’ll pay just $1.22 for the item plus shipping.
